Poland: Government receives EU Permission for obligatory e-invoicing

Spread the love

Poland’s plan to introduce obligatory e-invoicing beginning 1 January 2024 was approved by the European Council.

Background

The idea will expand on an already existing authorized e-invoicing provision, that allows business-to-business payments to be routed via a single warehouse and reviewed for evidence of tax fraud. Poland’s unique e-administration systems are essential for quicker and more successful identification of fraud.

Benefits for businesses include:

  • Digitalization and automation of the invoices
  • Protected data exchange invoicing
  • The advantage of invoices being securely recorded and archived for ten years
  • Improving the tax security of consumers of products or services.
  • Avoid repeat billing

EU officials stated they would ultimately plan for the different systems to be standardized.
