Lithuania: Government opens a public consultation on VAT exemption from Specific Article of Medical Supplies

The Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate launched a public consultation over a proposed change to Article 20 of the VAT statute to exclude some medical items from VAT. 

 

The proposal contains provisions to: 

  • Introduce a VAT exemption for human organs, blood, breast milk, and dental prosthesis distributed by dentists and dental technicians 
  • Revoke the VAT exemption for blood plasma goods combined with pharmaceuticals 
  • Revoke the VAT exemption for dental prosthesis sold by intermediaries other than dentists and dental technicians 
  • Revoke the VAT exemption for orthodontic equipment.
