On the 1st of January 2021 the transition period for BREXIT will be over and the Northern Ireland protocol will come into force. (Learn more about the delivery of goods to and from Northern Ireland in our previous article by clicking here.)
As a result, the processes of moving goods between GB and NI will endure some changes. If you are moving goods yourself or on behalf of others, if you are moving parcels between Great Britain and Northern Ireland or to Northern Ireland from outside the UK then you should sign up for the free Trader Support Service.
This service is free and will update you on any changes in the process of moving the goods. At the same time this service can complete declarations on your behalf. Feel free to sign up as soon as possible in order to receive your registration number in time and you are able to move goods between GB and NI. This registration number will be needed from the 1st of January.
In order to move goods to or from Northern Ireland from the 1st of January you’ll also require an EORI number that starts with XI. To receive this you must already have a GB EORI number. GVC can help you acquire a GB EORI number as soon as possible. Please visit our EORI application page to learn more and apply for your EORI number now.
