Italy postpones E-Document Legislation till Jan 1, 2022

In 2020 Italy introduced the ‘Guidelines for the creation, management and preservation of electronic documents’. The new rules regulate different aspects of an electronic document, one of them is enabling businesses to provide electronic documents full evidence in court.

The introduction of the new e-document rules is now postponed to 1 January 2022 by the Agency for Digital Italy (AGID). The postponement is due to the reaction of the local organizations who are concerned with associating the metadata with e-documents.

Since then, AGID altered the metadata requirements including adding the new pieces of metadata, changing the description of fields, correcting references or rephrasing statements in order to clarify the obligations.

The updated Guidelines are available on the AGID website.
