Romania: New SAF-T obligation in 2022

Spread the love

As of 2022, a new SAF-T requirement will be in place in Romania. Romanian tax authorities will require large taxpayers to report what is also known as the D406 Informative Declaration.

The first phase of implementation will only include big businesses with the plan of including all taxpayers in the long run.

ANAF has already published the SAF-T technical documentation with the standard tax control file requirements, a set of documents detailing mandatory and optional elements to be incorporated in the new SAFT declaration mode.

As a result, taxpayers should have already started to adjust their systems to also accommodate the updated technical details recently published by the authorities, as well as to identify whether they have the data required to report under the new standard.

Benefits of the SAF-T introduction

The obvious benefits of the SAF-T reporting is the reduction of the VAT gap and the simplification of tax audits deriving from the digitalization of the data.
