A report released by Latvia’s Ministry of Finance (MoF) envisions its plans to introduce electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) as a mandatory circulation of the B2B and B2G transactions from 2025.
It is important to note that already now the state and local government institutions in Latvia must comply with e-invoicing specifications established by the European Union i.a. by being able to accept e-invoices in public procurement. The circulation of e-invoices will have to take place in accordance with the European Electronic Documents and e-Invoicing Network (PEPPOL) which allows sending and receiving of e-invoices in a standard mode.
With the support of the Cabinet of Ministers (CM) , the work to enact new rules and implement the technological solutions in Latvia will start in the near future.
