Greece: Public announcement on the implementation of the new EU VAT eCommerce rules

The Minister of Finance, Mr. Christos Staikouras made a formal announcement on the incorporation into Greek legislation of the new EU eCommerce rules and the liabilities arising from the implementation of these rules starting July 2021.

In this public announcement, the main VAT changes were briefly mentioned in 6 separate points.

 

  • The abolishment of the low-consignment value of imported goods into the EU
  • The expansion of the Mini One Stop Shop
  • New book-keeping obligations for eCommerce companies
  • Unification of the VAT threshold for all EU countries
  • Online marketplaces as deemed sellers
  • The establishment of two new taxable acts such as the  “intra-Community distance selling of goods” and “distance selling of goods imported from third countries or third countries”

 

In this publication, every social and economic partner, as well as every interested citizen, is invited to participate in the public consultation, submitting his proposals for any improvement of the provisions of the above legislation. This consultation will run until 1 July, Thursday at 8:00 a.m.
