Poland’s Ministry of Finance introduced modifications to the draft bill aimed at enforcing a nationwide e-invoicing system as a standard billing system for VAT called Krajowy System e-Faktur (abbreviated as KSeF). The updates were introduced as a result of observations made by the public during consultations and are intended to streamline the invoicing process for businesses, making it easier and more efficient for them to manage their VAT obligations. The amendments cover the following:
- The bill’s effective date has been rescheduled from January 1, 2024, to July 1, 2024.
- The compulsory KSeF enactment deadline for taxpayers who are exempt from VAT rescheduled from 1 July 2024 to 1 Jan 2025.
- Exemption of specific tickets that serve as invoices and business-to-consumer invoices from the requirement to use the KSeF system.
- Providing disciplinary operations in case a taxpayer fails to issue a KSeF invoice.
- Providing relief from sanctions from 1 Jan 2025.
