Italy: A public consultation on EU VAT package for the digital age
The Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance has opened a public consultation on the European Commission’s VAT legislative package for the digital age. The proposed reforms aim to:
- Replace periodic communication with a transaction-by-transaction communication model using structured electronic invoicing.
- Regulate short-term accommodation and passenger transport services provided through digital platforms for VAT purposes.
- Implement a unified registration system for VAT-related matters.
- Expand the current one-stop-shop (OSS) and import one-stop-shop (IOSS) schemes.
Interested parties can submit comments by April 10th.
