The Bulgarian National Assembly released Decree No. 191, announcing the increase of the threshold for VAT registration.
The mandatory increase of the VAT registration threshold for taxpayers supplying VAT chargeable goods covers the zero-rated supplies, financial services, and even insurance services from BGN 50,000 to BGN 100,000.
The increase was announced as part of an anti-crisis package, although it was not included in the package’s main legislation.
The adjustment, according to the release, will take effect on the first day of the month after the entry into force of the Council of the European Union resolution permitting Bulgaria to apply the raised threshold, but not before January 1, 2023.
