Belgium: Import VAT exemption on medical supplies extended until 30 June 2022 

Given the long-term risk that the coronavirus poses to Belgium’s public health,the Belgian Federal Public Service-Finance stated that the import VAT exemption on medical products necessary to battle the COVID-19 pandemic will be extended until 30 June 30 2022 (instead of 31 December 2021).  

The exemption prevails over the following:  

• A temporary 6% VAT reduced rate on masks and hydroalcoholic gels imports
• A temporary zero-rate VAT on vaccinations and in vitro diagnostic medical devices imports.
